Win149 DCP5

Win149 DCP5 comprises two separate applications to enable the data capture and certificate generation of flooding information in Tweed Shire Council. The first application "DCP5 Data Capture" comprises a data entry form for flooding information and road affections. The purpose of this form is to severely ensure that the data being entered is accurate. The user also nominates which 149 certificate template is to be used in the final certificate. This also governs which fields are required to be filled in.

The second application "DCP5 Reporting" uses the data created from the first application to generate 149-5 certificates. The certificates themselves are then programatically filled out in Microsoft Word for the user to print.

The Win149 applications are excellent examples of how Woodward IT can be contracted to develop applications to fill a specific requirement your organisation may have. If you have a project such as this but not necessarily the skills to complete it, contact us at Woodward IT to discuss your plans.

The "DCP5 Data Capture" application is made up of two main forms. The first form is used to store flooding information from original construction diagrams. The second form is used to store any road affections for a property.

The forms have been designed to ensure that all information is entered correctly. Nothing is saved to the database (SQLServer) if the form entry is incomplete. In special cases where data differs from that expected, the user must confirm the change before any commits occur.

Both applications have standard login functionality when they are started. This is firstly to ensure that only people that should be able to change flooding data and generate 1495 certificates can. Secondly it is so that an audit trail can be recorded of all changes to the data.

Upon changing any data, the user is prompted to confirm the overwrite with the name of the person and date of the original entry.

Both applications have facilities to search for lot numbers on certain plans to either edit or report on. The appropriate data entry dialog is then automatically filled out with the values from the database.

The "DCP5 Reporting" application is closely linked to Microsoft Word and uses and existing 149-4 certificate template to generate a report. From the "DCP5 Reporting" application the user can opt to send the report directly to a printer without launching Word, or alternately load the certificate in Word for further editing.

The flooding values are pulled from SQLServer and inserted into the Word templates as specified locations.

All report output from "DCP5 Reporting" is done from Microsoft Word. Even when the user does not elect to load Word, it is still the responsible engine for output.

When a change is required to the certificate, the document template can simply be edited in Word and then saved. Any certificates generated after this use the new template.
