Tweed Shire Council implemented their GIS web intranet after
unsuccessfully attempting to get access to the desktop using PC
Genius and X emulation. The intranet application also provided the
first link between property and owner/address information.
Tweed have realised that the intranet provides a mechanism to store
and create all databases in the one location. Hence, other database
and reporting web tools have been developed.

The Tweed GIS web interface allows users to quickly and easily
navigate, and display the information they require. Functionality
includes:
- Standard navigation tools; Zoom In, Zoom Out, Scroll
- Zooming to a predefined scale
- Full layer control, where the user can turn on/off multiple
layers at one time. The layers are generated from an ASCII
configuration file
- Distance measurement
- Scaled printing and PDF generation
The users can click on certain geographical features to produce a
series of formatted HTML reports.
- Property Reports
- Reports on strata properties
- Reports appear in a seperate window
- Map features can be searched for and displayed
- Report information extracted from Microsoft SQL Server
- Integrated with NSW Survey database (SCIMS)
- Online bug reporting
As well as the main GIS web interface, there are also other
specialist applications.
- Integration with Proclaim database
- Public Toilets Asset database for recording of all types
of toilet furniture and condition
- Parks Asset database, to allow data capture and financial
reporting
- Survey Asset database for job recording
The survey and parks asset attributes are entered into HTML forms in
the browser and stored directly in SQL Server 7.0.
- The form fields and contents are generated "on the fly" from
existing attributes stored in SQL Server
- Full client side JavaScript error checking to ensure database
consistency
- Playground Equipment and Onsite Park Assets can be created on
the fly and assigned a current and future replacement cost
- All park attributes are entered through the one HTML form
The Parks database produces specific reports.
- Reports on an individual park outlining total replacement cost
of playground equipment and on-site assets and number of assets
- Reports outlining the total value invested in parks in a
single locality can be generated from a single mouse click
- Summary of all park assets for the entire shire can be
generated from a single mouse click
- Fully integrated with the main GIS application. Any park
attribute entered can be immediately queried on
