SWARM

SWARM is an effective tool to monitor septic waste systems that are not part of your organisation's sewer network. If you require more information don't hesitate to contact us.

Part of the Septic Safe initiative is the creation of a register of septic systems. SWARM allows you to record details about registrations of systems, including approvals and risk category assessment.

You can record the following themes of information:

  • Registration applicant name, address and contact details
  • Date of registration, application fee & receipt details
  • Registration approval status
  • Date of approval and termination
  • Conditions of approval
  • Risk category
  • Risk assessment and review date

In order to build a history for each septic account, SWARM enables you to store details about any on-site inspections that you make. For instance, you can record:
  • Date and time of insepction
  • Inspecting Officer
  • Date of last pumpout, sludge and scum levels
  • Results, description of problems, remedial action
  • Evidence of discharge, report of backup, educational material, log book kept, wet weather storage, safety sign to irrigation area
  • Inspection charges and receipt details
There is also the ability to record details of regular system maintenance performed by service providers including:
  • Maintenance date and service provider
  • Maintenance type and description
  • Pump out volume
  • Service provider receipt details
  • Service frequency and next service date

You can use SWARM to record scientfic results of some of the testing that you perform. As well as the ability to record above ground irrigation tests for each septic account, you can also create and test water quality and soil sample sites.

These features can be used to record changes in the environment from known locations. These sample sites can also be integrated in the map window for graphical representation.

You can record the following for each category:

  • Water quality: dissolved oxygen, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), total dissolved solids, temperature, pH, nitrates, phosphates, faecal coliform, turbidity
  • Soil: soil classification, long term acceptance rate (LTAR), dispersiveness (Emerson class), consultant details
  • Irrigation: free chlorine, total chlorine, pH, dissolved oxygen, temperature, suspended solids

You can use SWARM to record complaints made about septic systems and also locate them and then see them in the map window. This may provide some graphical clues, to where a series of complaints surround a particular septic system.

Complaints can be resolved and results of inspections and outcomes recorded.

SWARM provides a series of reports in either condensed or full detail form. You can generate reports on septic system accounts, maintenance history, inspection details or above ground irrigation results.

You can control the contents of the report or limit them by date range. Reports can be printed or saved as HTML documents.

There is a suite of other functionality available in SWARM to assist in the management of your septic accounts. The following is a summary:
  • A logon facility to provide safety of data where users can be assigned a read-only login.
  • Ability to export registers of information such as: account details, septic systems, approvals and risk category directly to MS Access, MS Excel, HTML or delimited ASCII.
  • Ability to export positioned septic systems, compliant locations, water quality and soil sample sites directly to ESRI shape files or MapInfo tables.
  • A reminders sub-system for scheduling of reminders
  • Ability to auto-generate documents in OpenOffice.org Writer or Microsoft Word. Batch printing can also be performed.
  • Integration with DataWorks document management system
  • Full on-line help available
