Feature Searching
|
|
Because you control what attribute data is extracted with your
GIS data, you can also enable feature searching through your ASP
page and shape it to look as you want.
You can use SQL with an ADO connection just like the ActiveX
control to perform your own matching and then return the feature
ID to the ActiveX control to display.

Search Matching
|
|
The other important feature of searching is to be able to make it
flexible. You can provide partial matching where a user only has
to enter a partial street address or road name. Once again your
web developers can shape the ASP page to your liking.

Feature Highlighting
|
|
After the searching has been completed, you need to pass the feature
ID of the selected item to the ActiveX control. On the next request
to generate a JPEG, the ActiveX control will shade in the selected
feature according to a configurable highlight option.
The feature can exist in any layer and will primarily be a road
or polygon.

Polygon Query
|
|
Also built into the GIS Internet ActiveX control is the ability to
perform point-in-polygon analysis. You simply pass in the image
click location as it is generated by the ASP page, and the control
will determine the real world coordinate, and which polygon it is
in.
You can then elect to shade the polygon and also query the database
to get any other information about the polygon and display it
on the resulting page.

|
Point and Line Query
|
|
The ActiveX control also supports the query of line and point
features. This allows you to have a myriad of queries such as
sewer or water networks and points such as Permanent Survey Marks.
