Manningham Perspective

Manningham Perspective is an application that was developed by Woodward IT for the Councillors of Manningham City Council in Melbourne. It's purpose is to provide the display and query of map information on laptops without the need for proprietary GIS software.

The application natively reads and displays ESRI shape files, as well as orthorectified images in an ArcImage Catalogue. It is also integrated with a snapshot of the parcel database to allow the user to search for properties by address or owner name.

Because Manningham Perspective has been designed to be used by Councillors the application interface is extremely simple and easy to use. The application consists of a general map window, navigation tool bar and Windows menu structure.

The starting window has been designed to highlight the terrain of Manningham City as well as outline the major roads and rivers.

Manningham Perspective contains a series of layers which are controlled at various scale thresholds. The cadastre containing 43000+ properties displays quickly, and is integrated with other data sets.

Properties from the casdastre can also be selected by various methods to generate property reports. The cadastre is directly linked with the property information database.

The applications also displays orthorectified images configured in an ArcImage Catalogue. There are various scale thresholds enabled for the different resolutions of images.

There are gigabytes of images displayed by Manningham Perspective. All images display seamlessly and can also be integrated with all vector data sets.

There is approximately 30 layers currently configured for use with Manningham Perspective. They are a combination of ESRI shape files, text coverages and aerial photographs. Each layer can be turned on/off by the user and all have a scale threshold.

Council staff have also been provided with a Configurator tool which allows them to add new layers, set the order of layers and thresholds as well as pick the symbology for each layer.

As well as the display and query of map information, Manningham Perspective also provides for standard navigation options available in most desktop mapping applications.
