Liberator MS (Middle School) was developed after it was found that
Curriculum Liberator
would not fit the needs of a middle school. The middle school
structure is based around subjects with different teachers, and hence
there was no continuity between students, teachers and reporting.
Read below to discover the other changes between Liberator MS
and Curriculum Liberator.
Also see Curriculum Liberator,
which covers the other aspects of planning and reporting. Curriculum
Liberator is the junior school version of the software.

Subjects
|
|
In Liberator MS, discovery journeys are now called "Discovery
Quests". This name change is used to signify that there are no
longer designated tasks, instead there are subjects.
Each subject is unique in Liberator MS which allows multiple
teachers to focus on their particular subject without overlap. For
each subject, teachers can select the outcomes covered, and
nominate the students undertaking the subject. Hence a subject
can also be treated as an elective.
There are no criteria to write for a subject. Each subject's
criteria and ultimate report card are fixed, saving middle school
teachers a great deal of time in planning.

As well as the outcomes and elaborations for the 8 key learning
areas, 5 middle school syllabuses are also available in the
Outcomes Browser. All strand statements, level statements and

Marking and Criteria
|
Unlike Curriculum Liberator, marking in Liberator MS is performed
on a 5 level scale. Marking is based around fixed criteria for
each strand in the subject. The various marking levels are:
- B - Working Below
- P - Progressing Towards
- A - Attainment
- M - Mastery
- E - Excelling

Comments Bank
|
|
One of the new features of Liberator MS is the inclusion of a
Comments Bank. The Comments Bank is used to store preformatted
comments that teachers can drag in when marking.
The Comments Bank saves teachers a lot of time whilst ensuring
a degree of consistency across the report card.
