Professional Development
|
|
Each Communicator user has their own professional development
page which highlights their qualifications and any other skills
they have or courses completed.
There is also functionality for teachers to see any courses that
are currently on offer and register their interest in attending.

Room Hire
|
|
The Room Hire component of Communicator allows any user to book
a room as well as see any bookings that exist for a room. Rooms can
be booked by navigating to that room in the map window and selecting
it. Rooms that are designated as meeting rooms appear in a slightly
different colour in the map window.
After selecting the room and entering date/time information, users
can then book any equipment or ICT peripherals required for the
meeting.
Room bookings can be made for a single day, span many days or can
be made for every day of the week or recurring on a weekly basis.

Minutes of Meetings
|
|
Communicator also manages minutes of meetings. The minutes can now
be recorded directly into Communicator throughout a meeting which
negates the need for minutes to be produced at a later time. Minutes
are archived and can be revisited at any time.
At any stage during recording minutes, todo items can be assigned
to any member of the group. This means users have instant
notification of any action item they are assigned. Once a meeting
has been closed, each member of the group is then notified that
new minutes are available.

Shop Orders
|
|
One of the exciting parts of Communicator is the ability for
teachers to browse the contents of the school shop and place orders.
When shopping, each teacher sees the funds available in their
classroom and teacher accounts, the price of stock in the shop and
the quantity available.
Each teacher has their own shopping cart from which they can add or
remove items before placing a order. Communicator doesn't allow
you to spend more money that you have, or order quantities of items
greater than that available.
Teachers can also generate reports on their purchase history for
the current year. This is beneficial because it allows them to
display where the funds from the Booklist Alternative Scheme are
being used.

Outgoing Documents
|
|
Another function of Communicator is to act as a document management
tool for all outgoing documents. Documents that are to be sent out
are first lodged by teachers and then approved by administration
staff. Once approved they are registered on the web server (through
Communicator) automatically.
Documents can then be forward directly to reprographics for
photocopying. This process simplifies document workflow because
teachers can quickly lodge a document and are then informed when the
copies can be picked up without any intervention.
Registered documents then form part of an archive and each user can
see old documents in read-only mode.

Maintenance Requests
|
|
Communicator allows any staff member to lodge a maintenance request
which is then forwarded to an appropriate user. Users nominate
the location of the problem by marking the spot in the map window.
Maintenance requests can be for buildings, grounds or ICT equipment.
Maintenance requests are archived and can be searched to find
unresolved requests and the costs and/or time involved in their
resolution.
