CeMS (Cemetery Management System) is an application designed to assist
in the day-to-day running of cemeteries and to assist in the record
keeping process. It is becoming more and more important to keep
accurate information about the deceased as the trend for family tree
searching and genealogy becomes more prevalent. As well as this,
CeMS provides an accurate way for you to record your Right of Burial
(ROB) information.
CeMS has been developed with an extremely easy to use interface,
similar to a lot of your other desktop applications. You can easily
add information about a person, record a burial, make a booking, and a
plaque order or view a photo related to a deceased. CeMS is currently
available for individual desktops or can be integrated with SQLServer.
In a sense, CeMS forces some integrity constraints on the data you
enter. It's purpose is to ensure that you can deliver the correct
results to a query from your sexton, a funeral director, plaque maker
or concerned relative at the front counter.
The main access to all of CeMS functions is through the Explorer bar
on the left of the CeMS window. Any user familiar with Microsoft
Explorer will already be familiar with this. From here you can load
any action to perform, such as recording details about a burial, or
adding a new interment.
With CeMS you control exactly what information is available. You can
enter multiple cemeteries and be able to switch between each cemetery
easily. You also have the ability to directly enter the options that
appear in all the pull-down menus on each of the windows in CeMS.

Deceased and Next of Kin Details
|
|
The starting point of data entry is to store information about the
deceased and any next of kin. CeMS provides flexibility to store
just names or optionally a whole pile of genealogy about people. For
instance you can store details such as age, marital status, maiden
names, nick names, religious denominations, occupations, date and
places of birth, christening and death, cause of death, medical
attendant and free form notes.
From the Person Details you can easily jump to any other related
about a person such as existing bookings, burial details and plaque
ordering information. From the Person Search dialog you can edit
details as well as store photos against an individual.
One of the features of CeMS is that you only enter a persons
details once. From then they are assigned a unique ID and then
selected against a burial or booking. Therefore your data will
always be consistent.

Burials
|
|
You can then use the people information entered to record burial
details. On the Burials dialog you can select the deceased and next
of kin and the relationship between them. You must also nominate the
interment that they are buried in.
Optionally you can also record Right of Burial (ROB) and receipt
numbers, any interment charges, and a whole pile of information
about the burial itself such as: date & time, funeral director,
minister, body or ashes buried, depth of the burial and whether there
was a graveside service.
There is also a burial calendar, where you can see burials recorded
by date, and the times of burials for a particular day.
You can search for burial details by:
- The surname or partial surname of the deceased
- The interment or partial interment details

Cemetery Bookings
|
|
In CeMS, you can book interments for up to 2 people. CeMS
will alert you when entering burial information for a person with
a booking, or if you attempt to enter burial details against an
interment for which there is an existing booking.
Against a booking you can also store any booking charges and right
of burial and receipt numbers.
You can search for booking details by:
- The surname or partial surname of the booking recipients
- The surname or partial surname of the booking applicant
- The booked interment or partial interment details

Plaque Orders
|
|
CeMS also allows you to store all your plaque order information.
This makes it easy to answer questions on when plaques were placed
and ordered and also inspect Right of Burial information before
installing a plaque.
For a plaque you must record, the deceased it belongs to and the
interment, but optionally you can also store: the plaque
applicant, the charges associated with a plaque order and receipt
numbers as well as the order number, plaque maker and date it was
received and installed.
You can search for plaque order details by:
- The surname or partial surname of the deceased
- The surname or partial surname of the plaque applicant
- The interment or partial interment details of the deceased

Map Window
|
|
One of the features that sets CeMS apart from other cemetery
databases is the Mapping Window. You can graphically inspect
and query interment details in your cemetery. As well as this
you can navigate around the interments by zooming in, zooming
out and panning.
The Map Window supports thematic shading of interments with
burials, bookings or plaques. This way you can see the
usage of interments and identify interments that are available
(unused).
You can also interactively click inside an interment to query its
details. This allows you to directly load the details of a booking,
burial or plaque from the Map Window.
On some of the search dialogs in CeMS, you can load the map window
and move directly to a particular interment. For example after
selecting a deceased's name for a burial, you can load the
map window and have it zoomed directly to the interment associated
with that burial.
